Photographer in Nottingham Wedding of Claire & James, can only be described as a mini Glastonbury but with amazing weather and beautiful people.
Claire’s son Charlie came down to the studio for a family shoot with his girlfriend, Meesha and baby boy Rudy, a while back. Whilst doing the shoot we got chatting about me being a Wedding Photographer too. Charlie said his mum was getting married soon, we checked the date was free and that was that. A while later Claire and James called up to get booked in. My first wedding festival was booked and I was excited to see what it would all be about.
Situated out in the middle of nowhere after following the fantastic instructions given to me by James, I found myself pulling up to a field, in the distance I could see the amazing set up for what was going to be a great festival. All the lads were helping stock up the outside bar, which was provided by BENS BARS, there was sound checks going on, a bit of organised chaos!
Claire and her Dad arrived, they got themselves ready to walk her over to the gorgeous area where the ceremony was due to take place. Dad was giving Claire away and in tow were six stunning bridesmaids. The service wasn’t your traditional service, it was a ” Hand Fasting” service, one I have never experienced before. The wedding party got to share a sip of wine from the Chalice. Once the ceremony was complete the newlyweds were asked to participate in the historical custom of Jumping the Broom. The guests mingled drinking away and chatting. There was definitely a lot of love between all who’re attending the wedding. The relaxed vibe from both the wedding party and their guest enabled me to shoot in the style of reportage rather than the traditional posed photographs.A BBQ wedding breakfast washed down with plenty of drinks was enjoyed by all the guests.
A short but very sweet speech was delivered by Claire’s Dad followed by a lengthy one packed with emotion and laugher from James, Think he had worded his father in Law to leave him plenty of talking time.
Before the afternoon guest arrived, I did manage to steal them away for a short photo walk in the beautiful field, making the most of our surroundings.
The music kicked off on stage with Issac Bloomfield, a local Nottingham singer and family friend. Claire got a surprise when James joined Issac on stage to play the drums accompanied by Jack & Harvey Evans Claire’s nephews who were amazing….
I seriously could have stayed all night and joined in their celebrations and listened to the music but unfortunately commitments in Cardiff, taking part in a tough cycle ride for charity, meant I had to head off and get on the road. I am sure the celebrations and dancing lasted well into the night. The challenge of the day for me was the weather. The blazing sunshine beaming down on the guest meant I needed to work quickly on the cameras utilising all the manual functions to avoid too many shadows. Even having to use fill flash at times.
I write this blog whilst James and Claire enjoy their honeymoon to Paphos, I just hope they can get a bit of Wi Fi to enable them to have a read and reminisce.
